Let the Trash be Thrown!

Okay, here goes! If we're going to start of 5 months of attempted anti-consumer spending, we're going to need support. Many of you are extremely thrifty already, some I'd like to be the spokesperson they're so thrifty, and others are really going to S T R U G G L E with this. It doesn't matter where you fit in here, everyone is welcome. And if you're one of those people that just can't imagine cutting down on items you buy online while "working" at your desk, we're going to find you some new options for spending online! We have a lot of knowledge and ideas combined with this group. As a side note, if you are concerned that we need to support the economic growth and you're not interested in saving money, you can spend as much as your heart desires on services (massage anyone?) or "pre loved" items, shall we say. Still supporting the economy :)

First off, I'd like to have the first meeting on Thursday, Jan 14 at Mosaic, a coffee house in Wallingford, at 7pm http://www.mosaiccoffeehouse.org/ ~ Here's the plan for the evening:

  • Compile a list of places to buy second hand goods in each neighborhood we have represented at the meeting (IF YOU CAN'T MAKE THE MEETING PLEASE POST YOUR IDEAS HERE!)
  • Compile a list of online sites you can buy or trade items (POST IDEAS)
  • Have our first "clothing swap" - if you'll be at the meeting, please bring at least one item you can exchange, and the theme is WARM CLOTHING: scarves, hats, gloves, warm clothing of any sort, etc. If you really don't have anything to give away, no worries, I'll have extra :) All untraded items will be donated to the homeless.
  • Schedule another clothing swap/wine & food party
All the ideas we come up with will be posted on the blog afterward.

***Meetings will be monthly from Jan-May (not weekly as there was a type-0 in the email)
